【小学·阅读理解·The School Garden】
Our school has a small garden behind the library. Two years ago it was only a piece of dry ground. Then our science teacher, Mr Hu, had an idea.
He asked each class to plant something. Our class planted tomatoes. At first we did not know what to do. Mr Hu showed us how to dig, how to water and how to keep the plants away from the sun at noon.
Every Friday afternoon we work in the garden for half an hour. We have learned to wait — tomatoes take a long time to turn red.
Now the garden is green. Other schools come to visit it. But the best thing is not the tomatoes. It is that we have learned to look after something together.
