【初中·完形填空·The Sunflower】
阅读下面短文，从各题所给的四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。
In spring our science teacher gave each of us a seed. "Plant it," she said, "and ______ it for one month."
I put mine in a small pot near the window. At first nothing happened. I watered it every day and felt a little worried. Other children showed me their green leaves, but my pot was empty.
Then one morning a thin green stem pushed out of the soil. I was so excited that I ran to tell my mother.
By the end of the month it was the tallest plant in the class — a sunflower. The teacher said, "Some things take longer, but they grow taller."
I have never forgotten that sentence.
